HR Director
West Ham United Football Club
___________

Dear sir/madam,

I would like to formally announce my interest in your vacant position of Manager.

My name is Adam Edwards and I'm a recent graduate from the University of Liverpool. Although my degree was in Music - hardly a sporty subject, I'll admit - I've always had a tremendous enthusiasm for the wonderful, noble sport of football. I've played football since the age of 4, and now at the age of 23 my love for the game hasn't waned a bit.

Whilst I don't have any formal managing experience, I do have a healthy respect for tactics and a remarkable ability to tell whether a player is offside or not, without even looking at replays. I feel that this would be an invaluable skill for a manager to possess, as I wouldn't complain about decisions that I knew to be wrong and thus would save the club from having to pay any disciplinary fines.

I have strong motivational skills, evidenced weekly during 5-a-side sessions in which I relentlessly bark orders at my teammates. We're currently top of the league, unbeaten, after 7 games which I think speaks for itself. There is also a moment that stands out during my fledgling management career. When on my way to an event at Aintree Racecourse a few years ago, I was waiting for a bus. On the field behind the bus stop a group of 10-12 year olds were playing football. Maybe it was because I was dressed in a suit; perhaps it was the few cans of Strongbow I'd had as part of our "champagne breakfast"; but my managerial spirit took over, and I began to instinctively shout tactics at the team in claret and blue. Though at first bemused, maybe even a tad worried, they did begin to listen to me and within minutes they had scored. Though I missed the end of the game (the bus had arrived), I can almost guarantee that they won that match.

As mentioned above, I'm only 23 and although I do have a tendency to get injured at least once per season, I'd be more than willing to accept the role of player-manager. I'm a centre-half by trade and I love a good slide-tackle, though strangely I do hate heading the ball. I'll still do it though. For the team.

I'm currently a season ticket holder at Manchester United, but I'm giving that up due to ticket prices increasing so rest assured I'll be available for every West Ham match next season. My commitment will not be in question. I will also happily relocate to the East End, and even adopt a cockney accent if required; I'm very good at accents, though Northern Ireland is probably my strongest one. A video of these accents can be made available upon request.

I know that the club is going through a dark time but I'll be the breath of fresh air to reignite this wonderful footballing club. Together we can bring back that famous spirit of 1966; for Moore, Hurst and Peters read Spector, Ba and Edwards. We can do this. Together. 'mon the Irons!

I've attached my CV and I hope to hear from you regarding this, or any other opportunities you feel may be suitable.

Kind regards,
Adam Edwards
